General Rules

1. Vendors must adhere to the rules of the Lincolnville Farmers' Market (LFM).
2. Vendors must have an application and copies of all appropriate licenses on file with the LFM secretary.
3. Vendors must strive to maintain an attractive display.
4. Vendors must provide their own table(s) and have a sign displaying their farm or business name and its location.
5. Vendors must leave their sites "broom clean" at the end of each market day.
6. Vendors are expected to participate in the market site setup and breakdown.
7. All prices must displayed in some manner.
8. The State scale inspector may inspect your scales at any time.
9. All vendors must adhere to the Maine Statute governing farmers' markets.
10. Each vendor is liable for the safety of his or her own products and is expected to maintain adequate liability insurance.
11. Any vendor can be expelled from the market for failure to comply with the market rules.
      The vendor in question will be given one (1) opportunity to comply before a vote of the LFM steering commitee is taken.
12. No sales are allowed before the market opens.
13. Vendors are expected to stay until the market closes for the day.
14. Vendor fees must be paid by May 15.

Produce

All produce, fruit, and flowers must be grown or wild-gathered by the vendor. Buying product for resale at the market is prohibited. All post-harvest handling and pesticide applications should comply with label directions and consider cleanliness in order to maintain highest quality.

Plants & Nursery Stock

All plant material must be grown by the vendor. Buying finished or pre-finished product for resale at the market is prohibited. All vendors selling plant material must have a Maine nursery license on file with the LFM secretary.
Plant material must be of highest quality. Products with insects or diseases are prohibited for sale and will be cause for expulsion from the market.

Animal Products

All meats, seafood, dairy products, and eggs must be raised or caught by the vendor. Buying products for resale at the market is prohibited. All meats, seafood, dairy products, & eggs must be transported and displayed at a maximum temperature of 45 degrees with a thermometer for tracking temperature. The vendor is responsible for proper sanitation in the slaughter, cleaning, and packaging of animal products in keeping with Maine state laws.

Processed Foods

All baked or processed goods must have been made by the vendor.
All processing facilities or kitchens must obtain a state kitchen license and have it on file with the LFM secretary.
Honey, cider, and maple syrup must be raised or wild-gathered by the vendor.

All producers of home-processed or baked items should use fresh product grown by the producer or harvested by a local farmer. No frozen, commercially canned, or pre-mixed ingredients are allowed.

Crafts & Homemade Items

Crafts are not allowed at a true farmers' market. However, yarn, dried flowers, beeswax products, and other intermediate products are permissable if raised or wild-gathered by the vendor. The LFM will decide on any "grey area" craft products on a case-by-case basis, but should be encouraged to honor the spirit of a market primarily oriented toward homegrown and processed foods.
